"We recognize that planet Earth and its ecosystems are our home and that "Mother Earth" is a common expression in a number of countries and regions, and we note that some countries recognize the rights of nature in the context of the promotion of sustainable development." - Harmony with Nature, United Nations
In 2009, the United Nations proclaimed 22 April as International Mother Earth Day and "acknowledged that the Earth and its ecosystems are our common home, and expressed their conviction that it is necessary to promote Harmony with Nature in order to achieve a just balance among the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations."
To celebrate International Mother Earth Day this year, Oyez!Books is organizing the Harmony With Nature Photo Contest on Facebook from 22 April to 14 May. All you have to do is upload your best photo that reflects the theme "Harmony with Nature" together with a short description and the location where the photo was taken. The location must be a place in Malaysia. Then get the most number of votes you can and the Top 3 will each win a special Wildlife book set worth RM150.
