Malaysiaku Celebrations is a community event organized by the Bangkung Row Restaurants since 2010 to celebrate the nation’s rich cultural diversity - with street parties, cultural performances, talks, exhibitions and much more. 

Oyez!Books is proud to participate in this wonderful event in conjunction with Malaysia Day.  From 10am to 5pm on 16 September at Bangsar Village, there will be various activities (book reading, batik painting, etc.), book stalls, orang asal stall and cultural performances (Malay dances, indian dances, Portuguese dances, etc.).

Come meet Heidi Shamsuddin, author of The Mystery of the Missing National Anthem and The Case of the Talented Trio.  At 11am, Heidi will present a musical performance by a children's double string quartet and introduce her exciting stories about time travel and key personalities from Malaysia's history.

Emila Yusof, popular children's author and illustrator of the Dina and Colourart series, will also be at the event with fun colouring and doodling activities for both children and adults. Check out her latest addition to the Colourart series - a beautiful compilation of illustrations revolving around Malaysia for your colouring pleasure.

Batik artist and educator, Zakiah Mohd Isa, will be on hand to conduct batik painting activities.  Using the designs of her husband, Yusof Gajah, she has painted and sewn banners, clothes, bags, scarves and more using the batik mehod.
